Wales to scrap Sea Fisheries Committees?

The Welsh Assembly Governement has announced a 12 week consultation on proposals to bring all Sea Fisheries in Wales under Welsh management.

Carwyn Jones (The Welsh Environment inister) said: “The proposed new structure will offer a consistent management system for the whole of Wales, rather than the current one which has a mix of national legislation and local byelaws which can lead to different management systems between the two areas.  Recent reports have called for the reform of inshore fisheries management and I believe that the best way to achieve this is for the Welsh Assembly Government to assume direct responsibility for all fisheries management.”
