SACN has learned that the Inshore Fisheries Working Group (IFWG) of DEFRA's Marine Stakeholder Forum has today considered the draft strategy document (V.5) produced by the RSA Strategy Sub-Group, and has agreed that this should be presented to the Minister (Ben Bradshaw) who is now expected to authorise a public consultation leading to the adoption of a strategy for the Development of Recreational Sea Angling.

(We understand that the IFWG has requested some minor amendments to V.5) 

The consultation document will contain full details of the proposed strategy, and be open to all to comment upon

It is likely to be some time before the 12 week consultation begins.

We are waiting for a formal announcement from DEFRA for confirmation of this news and further details.
