The South Wales Sea Fisheries Committee had joined the Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee in setting up a Recreational Sub Group. Traditionally concerned only with the management of commercial sea fisheries, Sea Fisheries Committees have begun to realise the value of their Recreational Sea Fisheries in providing business opportunities and supporting livelihoods in their districts. And the Recreational Sea Angling community is increasingly showing an interest in how inshore fisheries are being managed. This has led to a number of Sea Fisheries Committees debating how best they can respond to the opportunities presented, and deal with the issues that Recreational Sea Anglers are raising by involving anglers in consultation and discussion.
