Public Diversify

Nov 16,2007 SACN

With traditional fish species becoming scarce, and quota for now-pressured stocks expensive or unobtainable, the supply chain ,from catching boats to fish and chip shops, are feeling the strain as fish becomes harder to obtain or more expensive.
No wonder then that there is growing pressure upon consumers to try something different, with those concerned at the state of some stocks being persuaded that reducing pressure on those stocks by eating other species is the environmentally responsible thing to do.
Unfortunately little consideration is being paid by those vested interests in the vulnerability of these alternative species, nor their value to the Recreational Sea Angling sector.
