Anyone watching a recent Channel 4 programme when Gordon Ramsay sets out in a boat to fish for some bass, and returns with four good fish for cooking might be forgiven for wondering why Recreational Sea Anglers are seeking measures to improve the overall angling experience, particularly the chance of catching more and bigger fish.
Especially so that kind of fishing experience should be available to all, given a directed fisheries management policy that aims to deliver.
That it is now revealed that Gordon Ramsay's catch had to be faked, says much about the failure of current measures to achieve the quality of fishing that we have a right to expect should serve as an eye opener to those who believe that all is well with our recreational sea fisheries.
