Anglers Stop the Dee Trawlers

Feb 27,2007 Leon Roskilly

Fed up with trawlers flouting the byelaws banning trawling in the Dee, with some boats targeting flounder for pot bait, local anglers have launched a campaign of complaints resulting in the authorities warning the fishermen that they would have no choice but to enforce the byelaws.

Having flouted the byelaws for a number of years, the trawlerman are now demanding a review of the byelaws to enable them to resume fishing the Dee.

There is likely to be a public consultation on any revision of byelaws, so watch this space.
